Hermann Grunder Recognized by IEEE Nuclear and Plasma Sciences Society
Jefferson Lab’s founding director is being honored “for far reaching contributions to accelerator science and technology.” Grunder has been selected as one of two recipients of the IEEE NPSS Particle Accelerator Science and Technology (PAST) Award, which will be presented at the 2018 International Particle Accelerator Conference (IPAC’18) in Vancouver. Reception Honoring Fulvia Pilat Set for Nov. 8
After seven years at Jefferson Lab, Fulvia Pilat is leaving for her next chapter. Join us in celebrating her contributions to the lab at a reception being held in CEBAF Center room F113 on Wednesday, Nov. 8 in the afternoon, 3:30-5 p.m.
JLab Salutes Military Veterans on Friday, Nov. 10
In recognition of Veterans Day, Jefferson Lab invites staff military service veterans to stop by the CEBAF Center lobby anytime between 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 10. Service members are invited to check out the display, enjoy a cupcake, and sign the service honor sheet. Copies of the service photos poster will also be available for pickup. A group photo of military veterans will be taken at 1 p.m. in the CEBAF Center lobby. For veterans working on the Accelerator site, cupcakes will also be delivered to the MCC, Bldg. 85, conference room after 1 p.m. If you have any questions about this activity, contact Mike Robbins at mrobbins at jlab.org.
Jefferson Lab Archives Seeks T-shirts
The Jefferson Lab archives is seeking to complete its collection of Jefferson Lab T-shirts. If you have T-shirts from Safety, Science Bowl, Open House, the 1995 Run-A-Round or other Jefferson Lab events, and you are willing to donate them, email history at jlab.org with a description of the items you'd like to donate.
JLEIC Lunch Event Series Launched
Learn more about Jefferson Lab’s efforts toward an Electron-Ion Collider from the scientists who are making it happen. This weekly brown bag lunch series is aimed at scientists of all levels. Bring your own lunch and curiosity to CEBAF Center room A110 on Tuesdays at noon. An informal panel of accelerator and nuclear physicists who are working on the Jefferson Lab EIC (JLEIC) will be available to discuss the details of the project. Publications Refresher Course Offered Nov. 15
The next publications refresher course will happen on Wednesday, Nov. 15, at 2 p.m. in CEBAF Center room F228. Plan to attend to learn how to use the Jefferson Lab Publications System to manage your papers. DOE PAGES and ORCIDs will also be discussed. If you plan to attend, R.S.V.P. to kindrew at jlab.org by close of business on Tuesday, Nov. 14.
Quark Cafe Plans Thanksgiving Warm-up Buffet for Thursday, Nov. 16
Quark Cafe staff will host a Thanksgiving Warm-up Buffet 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 16. The menu will include herb-roasted turkey, maple-glazed ham, candied yams, green bean casserole, mashed potatoes and gravy, collard greens, sweet potatoes, stuffing and fresh-baked rolls. JAG Hosts Food Drive Through Nov. 17
The Jefferson Lab Activities Group has positioned food drive collection boxes for nonperishable food items for the 21st Annual Mayflower Marathon Food Drive. All donations will be collected around 3 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 17, and delivered to the Peninsula Food Bank. Boxes are located in the CEBAF Center lobby, Support Service Center lobby (Bldg. 28), the TED 2nd floor lobby (Bldg. 55), and the ESH&Q Building entrance (Bldg. 52).
