We are pleased to announce that the SNP School 2017 will take place at
J-PARC, Tokai, JAPAN, from December 14th to 16th, 2017 hosted by
J-PARC, RCNP-Osaka, ELPH-Tohoku, APCTP, ASRC JAEA, ANPhA, RIKEN
Nishina Center and GP-PU of Tohoku Univ. This is the sixth one of
a series of SNP schools, which were held in 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and
2016 in both Tokai (J-PARC) and Sendai (Tohoku University).
This year, the school is organized as a pre/post-workshop event of
international workshops:
• The International Workshop on Hadron and Nuclear Physics
(HNP2017, December 18-22, RIKEN, Wako, Saitama)
hosted by Asia Pacific Center for Theoretical Physics (APCTP)
and
• Reimei Workshop (December 11-13, Tokai) hosted by ASRC JAEA.
The announce of these workshop will be done soon.
We encourage young scientists who intend to participate in Reimei WS
and HNP2017 to join the SNP School 2017 as well and to present their
research activities at the young researchers’ session.
The school will have several lectures and topical talks on strangeness
nuclear physics as well as other general subjects such as hadron
physics and cold atom physics, which are expected to play central
roles in the 21st century nuclear physics research at accelerator
facilities for hadron beams such as J-PARC (Japan), GSI and FAIR
(Germany), RCNP (Japan) and for electron beams as CEBAF at Jefferson
Lab (USA), MAMI-C at Mainz University (Germany) and ELPH at Tohoku
University (Japan) etc. Lectures by leading physicists will overview
related subjects both from experiment and theory, and topical talks on
recent progress and future prospects of the fields will be also given.
The tour to visit accelerator facility of J-PARC is planned as a part
of the school. In addition, the school will organize a “young
researchers’ session” to give a chance of presentations by young
participants. We encourage you to present your research activities in
this session as well as to enjoy the lectures.
It is our intention to establish a new tradition of the school and
develop it as an opportunity to foster active young physicists in wide
fields of nuclear and related physics to be pursued around J-PARC in
the future. Therefore, the participants of the school are assumed to
be graduate students and young scientists who have strong motivation
to carry out the future nuclear physics research. Together with
lecturers who are leaders in these fields, senior participants are
also welcome to vitalize the school.

The school will be held at J-PARC, Tokai, JAPAN. Tokai village is
located about 120 km north of Tokyo and it faces Pacific Ocean. J-PARC
site and hotel can be easily accessed by airport limousine bus from
Narita airport (about two hours trip, 3,100yen). Detailed information
will be given on the web and final announcement.
We will visit J-PARC accelerator complex as a part of the SNP School 2017.
The school will welcome a maximum of approximately 50 graduate
students and young scientists from all over the world both in
experiments and in theory. Though budget is quite limited but
participants have a chance to have financial support for their local
expenses during the school. Deadline of application with financial
support is the 30th of September, 2017. In addition, the organizers
strongly advise the persons who need a visa to enter Japan, to contact
the organizer as soon as possible, since the issuance of a visa may
take a long time.
The school will organize special sessions to give a chance of
presentation for participants.
Young students who gave excellent presentation will be honored by
awarding Hashimoto prize and ANPhA prize.
We encourage young scientists to present their research in the school
and enjoy lectures.
=============================
Application, Selection of participants and Financial supports:
=============================
Application form can be submitted from the SNP school 2017 homepage
(shared with HNP2017 registration page). Registration fee is 7,000 yen
which includes school dinner and lunch boxes during the school.
Organizer requests participants to arrange overseas travel insurance
by themselves.
Selections of participants and financial support for them will be
performed based on research interest, activities to be explained in
the abstract of the presentation. Graduate students are requested to
have a permission from supervisor to attend the SNP School 2017. All
young participants are expected to present his/her activities by
poster and/or oral sessions during the school. Please give a title and
one-page abstract which will affect the decision of financial support.
Deadline of application with financial support is the 30th of
September, 2017 however later registration results in less chance for
financial support. We encourage earlier registration for participants
who want to have financial support.

Accommodation:
=============================
Organizer booked rooms of Tokai dormitory (J-PARC, 2,500 yen/night)
and rooms at hotel Terrace-in Katsuta (single 6,900, twin 15,000
yen/night/room) . The hotel locates just in front of the JR Katsuta
station and school site can be achievable by public transport (40
