[Cuga] Conferences for Undergraduate Women in Physics (CUWiP) at UVA- a message from Simonetta Liuti

Dear User,
The University of Virginia is excited to host one of twelve 
APS-sponsored Conferences for Undergraduate Women in Physics (CUWiP) in 
January 2018. A special diversity pre-event, SPIN-UPx-UVa, is also 
offered to connect and support students from minority backgrounds, 
first-generation students, and other underrepresented groups. More 
information on the UVa CUWiP conference and SPIN-UPx-UVa can be found on

We ask that you advertise the conference among your physics majors, and 
encourage them to apply. You can see and download a couple slides from 
https://pages.shanti.virginia.edu/cuwip-2018/promotional-material/

We hope you will display the slides on your departmental monitor, 
webpage, and present them in class. Please consider providing 
institutional support for travel if students are accepted to the 
conference. The number of applicants has risen sharply in recent years 
and now stands at 1800 students, so departmental support has become 
crucial and enables us to accept the largest number of students. The 
University of Virginia will provide support for lodging and meals for 
accepted attendees. Applications for CUWiP are being accepted from now 
to October 13th. Students that are interested in SPIN-UPx-UVa should 
also send an e-mail directly to sl4y at virginia.edu or to
