Dear Jefferson Lab User Community,
As you know, we encountered severaldifficultiesduring beam restoration
and re-start of the four-Hall physics program. As a result, we resumed
physics operations September 26th rather thanonAugust 22^nd as
originally planned. This substantially delayed start to CEBAF beam
delivery requires us to adjust the scheduled experimental physics
program accordingly.
Please find attached the adjusted beam schedule for the remainder of
calendar year 2018. The constraints imposed by four-Hall physics
operations, such asthe energy choices a hall may have, makere-scheduling
the physics program a difficult task. We understand that this
short-term schedule does not include all of the science shown in the
previously released schedule. We apologize to the various experiment
and Hall collaborations that do not see your anticipated science
reflected in this short term schedule.
We would like to reassure you that we are considering options to restore
some of the lost physics run-time. We will be in a position to provide
an updated long-term schedule for the remainder of FY19 once we have
completed our resource planning for FY19.
We would also like to emphasize that we are in the process of learning
all that we can from this difficult start-up period in order to ensure
that we avoid such difficulties in the future. We recognize the
difficulties that this period has brought about, and appreciate your
support and patience.
