This is a first circular for an upcoming workshop, "Parton Distributions as a Bridge from Low to High Energies", which will take place on November 8 and 9, 2018, in coordination with the upcoming CTEQ Fall meeting at Jefferson Lab planned for Saturday, November 10th.
This workshop will focus on the coupled problem of determination of precise parton distribution functions and nonperturbative QCD contributions over a wide range of scattering energies and targets. We aim to address questions such as how can the new experiments envisioned for the high-luminosity LHC era, such as Jefferson Lab at 12 GeV, neutrino experiments at FNAL, and the Electron-Ion Collider, advance understanding of parton distribution functions and the 3-dimensional structure of nucleons and nuclei, while also probing nonperturbative effects? What can be learned about QCD from a combination of high-energy and low-energy data? Which theoretical developments and theoretical tools will be necessary to interpret precise lepton-hadron scattering experiments in the near future?
Talk suggestions are welcome. Please contact C. Keppel, P. Nadolsky or any member of the CTEQ collaboration (https://www.physics.smu.edu/scalise/cteq/).
More information will be available on a workshop website shortly. Registration will start at the time of a second circular. For now, please feel free to forward this announcement to your collaborations and to any interested colleagues - and mark your calendars to join us in Newport News later this Fall!
