Happy 4th of July!
The lab is closed tomorrow, July 4, in observance of Independence Day. The lab will reopen Friday, July 5, at 8 a.m.
MOMENTS OF ANGULAR DISTRIBUTION AND BEAM ASYMMETRIES AT GLUEX
The GlueX experiment, in their search for exotic mesons, will soon obtain moments from the ηπ^0 angular distribution. In view of this, the Joint Physics Analysis Center has generalized the formalism of moment extraction in the case of two mesons produced from a linearly polarized photon beam. To illustrate the technique, a model (https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__arxiv.org_abs_1906.04841&d=DwIFaQ&c=CJqEzB1piLOyyvZjb8YUQw&r=huYtXgHboamQCcudwMT5oQ&m=B263Irg-01FYsZE3hIfSnlaG7aGLWGyB66osajntyhc&s=yypVLbmNf7nmVoTWE1zN4Pxyq8wmZNEIS3sy86jDQXs&e= ) which includes an exotic P-wave is included, and the sensitivity of the moments to this wave is analyzed.

JOIN THE WORKERS SAFETY COMMITTEE
The Workers Safety Committee (https://www.jlab.org/eshq/wsc) promotes and works to continuously improve workplace safety at the lab. Committee members actively engage employees, Users and subcontractors regarding strengths, areas for improvement and overall perception of lab safety. The Workers Safety Committee welcomes anyone that may be interested in joining their meetings. The meetings are held the first Wednesday of every month beginning at 9:30 a.m. in Test Lab room 1227. For more information about the committee, click here (http://www.jlab.org/eshq/wsc) .

CONFINED SPACES
At Jefferson Lab, a confined space is defined by the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration as an area that:
- Has limited means of entering and exiting.
- Is not designed for routine human occupancy.
- Is large enough to enter and conduct work.
- May have atmospheric hazards and/or physical hazards.
Entry is defined as any part of your body can "break the entry plane" into a space that meets the above criteria. If you encounter a situation or a space with a sign indicating that a confined space exists, and you have not been properly trained (https://misportal.jlab.org/training/viewClass.seam?classId=99379&from=home) , do not enter the space.

For more information about confined spaces, see ES&H Manual Chapter 6160 (https://www.jlab.org/ehs/ehsmanual/manual/6160.html) Permit Required Confined Spaces or visit the OSHA website (https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__www.osha.gov_&d=DwIFaQ&c=CJqEzB1piLOyyvZjb8YUQw&r=huYtXgHboamQCcudwMT5oQ&m=B263Irg-01FYsZE3hIfSnlaG7aGLWGyB66osajntyhc&s=Btwgl63OwgfwExKkT1ydS--_oPpelRck-MjbxwWJedc&e= ) .

PRIZED POSTDOC WORKS TO DEMYSTIFY PROCESS BEHIND QUARK COMBINATION
Theorist Andrea Signori was recently awarded the 2019 JSA Postdoctoral Prize for work to explain how quarks build particles. The project, Unraveling Hadronization, works to tackle the mystery of hadronization by working to improve the theory that describes the hadronization process. The Jefferson Lab User Organization board of directors has awarded the JSA Postdoctoral Prize since 2008. Read the full story here (https://www.jlab.org/news/releases/prized-postdoc-works-demystify-process-behind-quark-combination) .

LIMITED BREAKFAST MENU – JULY 5
On Friday, July 5, Quark Café will be offering a limited breakfast menu consisting of breakfast sandwiches. The usual beverages, including espresso, will be available. The hotline will be closed. Full service breakfast will return Monday, July 8, 2019. Full lunch service will be available including the salad bar, deli bar and hot bar with chef’s specials.

COMPUTING ROUND TABLE – JULY 9
The Computing Round Table (https://misportal.jlab.org/ul/calendar/calendar_date.cfm?date=9&month=7&year=2019) is a labwide initiative using computer science, theory projects and experimental physics to remove the separation of data readout and analysis. The program takes advantage of modern electronics, computing and analysis techniques in order to build the next-generation computing model that will be essential for probing femto scale science. July's Computing Round Table will hear updates from the Streaming Readout Grand Challenge. The detailed agenda of the Computing Round Table in July is available here (https://www.jlab.org/indico/event/307/) . The Computing Round Table is scheduled for Tuesday, July 9, at 1 p.m. ET in CEBAF Center F113.
