JLUO Features JLab Science from Around the World
Users discussed international collaboration at the Jefferson Lab Users Organization Annual Workshop and Annual Meeting (https://www.jlab.org/news/stories/2019-jluo-annual-meeting-features-jlab-science-around-world) in June.
AZIMUTHAL ASYMMETRIES IN SIDIS AND DRELL-YAN PROCESSES
A new paper (https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__arxiv.org_abs_1906.07037&d=DwIFaQ&c=CJqEzB1piLOyyvZjb8YUQw&r=huYtXgHboamQCcudwMT5oQ&m=KsnRWmo24k8PuzW3Z0vvGPL4-aMJEN_2Y_3UQ-1DEp4&s=kCkaHvIaTGxIVGuSoRLuqLaoeS08RnL5tJlfI0eIFLA&e= ) considers the cosφ azimuthal distribution of final state hadrons in semi-inclusive deep-inelastic scattering and in the lepton pair in the Drell-Yan process. At low transverse momenta, p[T], a factorized expression for these observables, is proposed based on a tree-level approach. The same formula is theorized to be valid in transverse momentum dependent factorization when written in terms of subtracted TMD parton distributions. The theorized formula correctly corresponds with the collinear factorization results at high p[T. ]The results are a necessary step towards the extension of the TMD factorization theorems for subleading power corrections.

ALL-HANDS SAFETY MEETING REMINDER
This morning Stuart Henderson led the first of four all-hands meetings for the operations division to discuss the recent safety events and the lessons learned. The remaining meetings, held in CEBAF Center auditorium, are as follows:
* Accelerator Division: Friday, July 19 from 10 - 11 a.m.
* Engineering Division: Monday, July 22 from 11:30 a.m - 12:30 p.m.
* Physics/Theory Division: Thursday, Aug. 1 from 3 - 4 p.m.
Please be sure to be seated before the meeting begins to limit disruptions. For more information, click here (https://www.jlab.org/directors-messages/maintaining-lab-safety-all-hands-meetings-scheduled) . For questions, contact Lauren Hansen (mailto:lhansen at jlab.org) at x7689.
USE OF UNATTENDED TEMPORARY BARRIERS AROUND HAZARDOUS ENERGY
The shock event in April raised questions about the use of unattended temporary barriers around hazardous electrical energy. Unattended temporary barriers are not allowed per Jefferson Lab policy, as stated in the ESH Lock, Try, Tag program (https://www.jlab.org/ehs/ehsmanual/manual/6110.html) . To learn more about the policy and to avoid potential hazardous energy events, click here (https://www.jlab.org/memo/use-unattended-temporary-barriers-around-hazardous-energy) .

RESEARCHER AWARDED STFC ERNEST RUTHERFORD FELLOWSHIP
Jefferson Lab researcher Rachel Montgomery has been named a STFC Ernest Rutherford Fellowship (https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__stfc.ukri.org_funding_fellowships_ernest-2Drutherford-2Dfellowship_&d=DwIFaQ&c=CJqEzB1piLOyyvZjb8YUQw&r=huYtXgHboamQCcudwMT5oQ&m=KsnRWmo24k8PuzW3Z0vvGPL4-aMJEN_2Y_3UQ-1DEp4&s=MiAR--RSh6SkeMj5_lCJ7Qo-QjMoGqj1Bc9i5gQR6z0&e= ) awardee. She will hold fellowship at University of Glasgow for five years allowing her to continue her focus on Jefferson Lab-related research. "I'm really excited about the opportunity to extend my Jefferson Lab focus, including a strong focus on Tagged Deep Inelastic Scattering studies for our upcoming experiment and for future spectator tagging measurements too," Montgomery says.

ACCOUNTABILITY EXERCISE - JULY 18
On Thursday, July 18, there will be an accountability exercise for JSA staff members. You may respond to the exercise via the link sent to you in an email or text. For more information, click here (https://www.jlab.org/memo/employee-accountability-exercise-set-thursday-july-18) . For questions, contact Tina (mailto:menefee at jlab.org) Menefee (mailto:menefee at jlab.org) at x5490.
PUBLIC ADDRESS SYSTEM TEST - JULY 18
On Thursday, July 18, at 5:30 p.m., members of the Jefferson Lab emergency management team will conduct the recurring test of the lab’s Public Address System, the live audible announcement feature that is available through the Cisco phones. No actions are required or expected from members of the lab community with this test. Active calls are automatically put on “hold” and may be reactivated once the announcement has ended. For more information, click here (https://www.jlab.org/memo/public-address-system-test-set-thursday-july-18) .
RUN-A-ROUND SHIRTS ARE ON SALE NOW
Miss out on the Run-A-Round merch pre-order? Not to worry! Run-A-Round merchandise in all sizes from youth to 5x have arrived and are on sale now at the CEBAF Center front desk. There will be limited quantity available for zip and pullover hoodies, as well as v-neck and long-sleeved shirts. This is your last chance to purchase 2019 shirts; once they are gone, there are no future orders.
Cash and personal checks are accepted. For questions, contact David Abbott (http://abbottd@jlab.org) at x5519.
