This workshop is supported, in part, through the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation Convening Award on Opportunities in Fundamental Physics<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__www.aps.org_programs_innovation_moore_recipients.cfm&d=DwMDaQ&c=CJqEzB1piLOyyvZjb8YUQw&r=XLS7McYaisEXma1nZ-ZkH3avjcV1h4piQgwo8YnFWcs&m=8dkUD7tMgRNoE9FyZNUCKJGwEvj8O3MvoixOWQSdlF4&s=lDh1K42ZtugSgCh84TkTw316WsjMSaHPYeqpZSh4XOc&e=>. There have been two previous workshops on Light Dark Matter @ Accelerators, LDMA2015<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=http-3A__ldma2015.ge.infn.it_LDMA2015_Welcome.html&d=DwMDaQ&c=CJqEzB1piLOyyvZjb8YUQw&r=XLS7McYaisEXma1nZ-ZkH3avjcV1h4piQgwo8YnFWcs&m=8dkUD7tMgRNoE9FyZNUCKJGwEvj8O3MvoixOWQSdlF4&s=W3fdo0L0jOgepUeEyqXa4DyKK-yOa7DOMAZ9uFxNcDM&e=> and LDMA2017<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__agenda.infn.it_event_12410_overview&d=DwMDaQ&c=CJqEzB1piLOyyvZjb8YUQw&r=XLS7McYaisEXma1nZ-ZkH3avjcV1h4piQgwo8YnFWcs&m=8dkUD7tMgRNoE9FyZNUCKJGwEvj8O3MvoixOWQSdlF4&s=DUBcRts4tF9YCRrPghKBES_omXT_M-VN881ATbAZRv4&e=>.
The scientific scope of the international workshop on Light Dark Matter @ Accelerators (LDMA) seeks to bring together experts from the experimental and theoretical community, interested in the new and fast-growing field of light dark matter search at accelerators. The workshop will afford the opportunity to share expertise spanning from theoretical motivations to experimental techniques for future programs to pursue in mid-energy and high-intensity accelerating facilities. The very nature of dark matter is by definition outside the scope of the Standard Model. LDMA2019 will bring together 50 to 60 nuclear and particle physicists – theorists, experimentalists, and phenomenologists, who would tend not to coordinate on one scientific enterprise.
LDMA seeks to motivate an exchange of ideas aimed at identifying signatures of new physics in the search for light dark matter with in novel cost-effective experiments. This is a key time because several experiments are already taking data (MiniBoonE at FNAL, PADME at LNF, HPS and APEX at JLab, and NA64 at CERN) while others (such as BDX and LDMX) are being brought to fruition, from excavating the experimental hall to constructing the detectors to building international collaborations.
The meeting will be organized into four plenary sessions: (1) Theory, (2) Experiment, (3) Direct Detection of Dark Matter, and (4) Ultralight Dark Matter. At this workshop, we will coordinate our activities on
● Theoretical grounds and motivations for light dark matter scenarios
● Present and future experimental programs at accelerators
● Status of dark forces searches and future perspectives
● Latest updates on dark matter direct detection and results from experiments at high-energy colliders
● Constraints and limits from indirect dark matter detection
● Innovative instrumentation and new experimental techniques
You are cordially invited to submitting an abstract for either an oral or poster presentation. Physicists early in their careers are especially encouraged to apply. Please note that there will be no registration fees for LDMA2019 due to entirely from the support of the Gordan and Betty Moore Foundation<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__eurekalert.org_pub-5Freleases_2019-2D06_aps-2Daps061419.php&d=DwMDaQ&c=CJqEzB1piLOyyvZjb8YUQw&r=XLS7McYaisEXma1nZ-ZkH3avjcV1h4piQgwo8YnFWcs&m=8dkUD7tMgRNoE9FyZNUCKJGwEvj8O3MvoixOWQSdlF4&s=t0MYtrvXOgp1qq59n7vaDupVMp-Lt1UBqtjdB_pKvs4&e=>. Lodging at early-bird discounted rates is available until September 1, 2019. Check the web page for a detailed list of suggested hotels.
We are looking forward to seeing you in Venice, Italy!
With our very best regards,
The Local Organizing Committee of LDMA2019
