This series workshops typically have about 100 participants from
China and abroad and in recent years have attracted more students and
postdocs. The workshop topics include
1) Hadron Structure and QCD
Nucleon spin structure
Proton form factors, radius and mass
Three-dimensional imaging of nucleon (TMDs, GPDs)
Lattice QCD and new theoretical developments
2) Hadron spectroscopy and exotic states
3) Nuclear Medium Effects
4) Low Energy Tests of the Standard Model
Nankai University was the third university established in China and
today is one of China's premier universities; and, whilst Tianjin is not
as "international" as Beijing or Shanghai, it does nevertheless possess
many sites to visit, and is one of the original three cities (Beijing,
Shanghai and Tianjin) reporting to the central government. We plan to
hold the talks and discussions in the Physics Department at Nankai U.
and accommodate the international participants in a top-quality hotel
within walking distance.
Tianjin is a major port city, sitting on the Hai River, which connects
to the Yellow and Yangtze Rivers via the Grand Canal. Following the 1858
Treaties of Tianjin, several Western nations established concessions in
Tianjin. The European-style houses, municipal buildings and churches in
Wudadao (Five Great Avenues) are legacies of that period. Amongst these
is the Italian Village, which has some top-quality restaurants and pubs,
and is just 6km (a short taxi ride) from Nankai U. Standing in contrast
are the city's many modern skyscrapers, including the 415m-tall Tianjin
Radio and Television Tower. A 117 floor skyscraper is currently under
construction.
Tianjin is only 150 km (30 minutes by fast train) from Beijing South
Station, for those who might be in Beijing before the meeting. There is
also a direct bus from Beijing International Airport to Tianjin. We
therefore advise you to fly into Beijing International Airport.
We hope you will be able to join us.
Warm regards,
