Searching for A-Prime
After the completion of a series of experiments with the new CLAS12 spectrometer, Hall B is preparing for an experiment called Heavy Photon Search or HPS. This experiment searches for evidence of a hypothetical particle, called A', also known as A-prime, which is thought to connect the visible matter in the universe with the invisible or dark matter.
Most of our universe is made from dark matter, which we know from the deflection of visible light traveling in the universe through areas where dark matter is concentrated. Many experiments are searching for the A' particle, including an experiment in Hall A, called APEX. HPS is unique in the sense that it explores areas in parameter space where other experiments have no sensitivity. Finding significant evidence for the A' particle would revolutionize our understanding of the universe.

Interpretation of the LHCb Pc(4312)+ Signal
The LHCb collaboration has reported a new pentaquark-like signal, Pc(4312), in the experimental J/ψ p spectrum, near the threshold for the Σc baryon and D-bar meson. The Σc D-bar interaction is found to be attractive, but not sufficient to form a bound state.

Activities will include inspections of fall protection gear including harnesses, lanyards and anchorage connecting devices such as beam clamps and straps. Jefferson Lab Software Changing
The IT Division has been working with Proofpoint, the previous Spam and Virus filter service provider, and plan to implement this new service in place of the Office 365 spam and virus filter on Tuesday, May 14. Jefferson Lab staff will be able to important allow and block lists from the previous Proofpoint. Staff and Users will receive spam quarantine Reports daily unless they modify their settings. With the implementation of Proofpoint, employees and Users can expect fewer messages to end up in their junk email folder. Questions or concerns? Employee Spotlight
Jefferson Lab employees might notice a new smiling face at the top of CEBAF Center in the B Wing. Alethea Ashton is the new the administrative assistant for the Director’s Office in CEBAF Center at Jefferson Lab. Although she’s served as a courtroom clerk in Charlotte for the last few years, her first foray at the lab was in the summer of ’98, when she worked in the equipment pool supplies department. What brought her back to our neck of the woods? “I loved the diversity at the lab. And I loved that no matter what your experience, you were always a part of the conversation. Everyone was willing to share what they were working on. I’m glad to be back.” Please welcome her at alethea at jlab.org or x5700.
