Dear Colleagues:
As we enter 2020, we want to remind you of the important and ongoing role Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) play in fostering a welcoming environment for everyone that is a part of daily life at the lab: staff, Users, students, contractors and visitors. To reinforce the focus on D&I, on Jan. 9, 2020, staff and Users will receive an email invitation to take Jefferson Lab's first ever Inclusion Survey.
The lab has previously focused on understanding diversity which encompasses more noticeable characteristics of the workforce (age, gender, ethnicity, etc.), inclusion examines the organizational foundation that supports employees, Users and their differing viewpoints, fostering a culture where all feel welcome, respected and empowered to grow.
The goal of this survey is to measure the lab's current culture from an inclusion lens and is centered on themes such as fairness, belonging, opportunities, decision making and voice. The survey will allow the lab community to make informed decisions about how we can improve or maintain our current culture based on data from you.
Jefferson Lab has partnered with Culture Amp, a recognized D&I third party vendor, to design and administer the survey. This survey is completely secure and anonymous. Participation is optional, though we strongly encourage you to participate, and hope to hear the opinion of most of you. You all have a seat at this inclusion survey table.
The survey, which takes an average of 10-15 minutes to complete, will be available to all staff and Users. With a high participation rate, we can confidently take actions that position Jefferson Lab as a great place to work that is inclusive and equal for all. We've set a participation rate goal at 75%. Results of the survey will be shared with the Jefferson Lab community in Q3.
