The third announcement of the DIS2020:

Dear Colleagues,

We write to you with a few important reminders and announcements about DIS2020 (March 23-27, 2020, Brooklyn, NY)

1) I am writing to remind you that the abstract submission deadline for DIS2020 is fast approaching: January 30, 2020. If you are thinking of submitting abstracts, please do so at the DIS2020 Official WebSite:<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__indico.bnl.gov_event_6567_&d=DwMFaQ&c=CJqEzB1piLOyyvZjb8YUQw&r=TI1-uR1CNrL-lIqQDSyKdw&m=GH2OPfVbFhe0_BjD6DpsihugUuX8cDHarSovTP6uTLM&s=UlhCEfiB80x-GTot-3J9Q26kytPAn7ukvu5BU9nAlJ4&e=> (https://indico.bnl.gov/event/6567/<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__indico.bnl.gov_event_6567_&d=DwMFaQ&c=CJqEzB1piLOyyvZjb8YUQw&r=TI1-uR1CNrL-lIqQDSyKdw&m=GH2OPfVbFhe0_BjD6DpsihugUuX8cDHarSovTP6uTLM&s=UlhCEfiB80x-GTot-3J9Q26kytPAn7ukvu5BU9nAlJ4&e=>). The conveners are already hard at work! Plenary agenda is now final and on the Indico Page.

2) With the recent announcement of CD0/Site-Selection of the US EIC & the anticipated results of the ongoing discussion on Europe’s future planning (EPPSU) we have organized a special plenary session on Thursday, 3/26 to hear about these exciting developments in the fields of high energy nuclear and particle physics and the path forward.

3) A poster session is being considered. We are accepting poster (title/abstract). If we reach a minimum of 25, we will have a poster session.

4) Early registration along with reduced rate early hotel booking continues. We hope attendees will take advantage of both of these. The reduced hotel rates are only available subject to availability and before a fixed date.

— Our previous announcement with detailed information is included below.

We look forward to seeing you at DIS2020!

Best regards,
Abhay Deshpande

DIS2020 conference website<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__indico.bnl.gov_event_6567_&d=DwMFaQ&c=CJqEzB1piLOyyvZjb8YUQw&r=TI1-uR1CNrL-lIqQDSyKdw&m=GH2OPfVbFhe0_BjD6DpsihugUuX8cDHarSovTP6uTLM&s=UlhCEfiB80x-GTot-3J9Q26kytPAn7ukvu5BU9nAlJ4&e=> has been setup. It will updated as we move closed to the date of the meeting.

The conference venue:
The conference will be held in NY Marriott at the Brooklyn Bridge, one of NY’s most dynamic destinations. It is located a few steps away from the Brooklyn Bridge just across from the East River (with a view of many of NY’s attractions). A short walk across the Brooklyn Bridge will take you into Manhattan, China town or Little Italy. The Hotel is newly renovated with modern conference facilities and rooms which will accommodate our plenary as well as parallel sessions within the same facility.

Registration and Conference Fee:
Early registration for the conference is available now through the conference website. The registration fee is $500 for regular attendees and $300 for students. Late registration is $600 and $350, respectively after February 29th, 2020. These registration fees include the conference dinner and a reception. The registration fee for an accompanying persons is $175/per person.

Accommodation:
The conference hotel is the New York Marriott at the Brooklyn Bridge. The first 127 rooms will be available for a SBU/CFNS discounted rate of $179/room (tax-free); rooms with one or two beds are available. We also offer a shared room option at rate of $120/room (tax-free). If you chose this option, we will match you with a roommate, unless you specify otherwise. These discounted rates are only available through the registration link above and will be available until the 127 rooms are booked. After the 127 rooms are booked, a special DIS2020 rate of $239+tax will be available until March 7th, 2020 directly with the Hotel depending on the availability of rooms at the hotel. After March 7th 2020, the DIS2020 room block will be released with no special DIS2020 rate. Please register and book your hotel as early as possible. There are other hotels in the vicinity but they have no special arrangement with DIS2020, and the prices may be substantially higher.

Both conference registration and Marriott hotel bookings are available through the conference page through a secure server. Please note we can not make the hotel booking at the discounted SBU/CFNS rate without a fully payed conference registration — We need to guarantee the rooms for this rate.

Travel:
By air:
We recommend using John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK, 19 miles), LaGuardia Airport (LGA, 10 miles), Newark Liberty International’s Airport (EWR, 14 miles) for those who are flying in from international and national destinations. Directions to the Conference Venue/Hotel from these airports are available on the Hotel Web Page. Other airport one might consider are: Philadelphia airport (PHL) connected by a train and bus service (~2.5hrs) for international travelers, and Islip Airport (ISP) on Long Island by a train & bus combination (~1.5hrs) for domestic travelers.

By Train:
Arrive at Penn Station NY and take a subway to Brooklyn.

By car:
The address for the GPS for the conference venue is: 333 Adams Street, Brooklyn, New York 11201, USA. If you rent a car, then the hotel’s parking rates are $20/hr or $50/night.

We do not recommend renting a car in view of traffic conditions in Brooklyn. Instead we recommend using public transport or Uber, Lyft, taxis, and other such services. Subway stations are within a block or two from the conference venue.

Visa Information:
During the registration process you will be asked if you need a visa to enter the United States. Based on your answer you will received an invitation letter for the meeting after you register. Please process the visa application as soon as you can, as we have learnt that the process can be lengthy in some cases.
