Dear Colleagues -
We are happy to announce that the workshop on "Beam Polarization and Polarimetry at the Electron Ion Collider" at the CFNS center at Stony Brook University, NY will be held fully online via ZOOM. To make attendance around the world easier and more relaxed we plan to spread the workshop over 3 days:
Friday June 26th, Monday June 29th, and Wednesday July 1st 2020. In this way we can keep with the Yellow Report timeline, as established by the EIC Users Group, and provide timely impact on the EIC machine design.
For details of the meeting please consult the meeting webpage: https://indico.bnl.gov/event/7583/
Please note that the abstract submission deadline has been extended to May 31. We also request that all planning to attend register for the meeting.
Attaining high polarization of electron, proton and light ion beams in the EIC rests both on experience from previous polarized beam accelerators and on novel approaches. The EIC accelerator design must fully address challenges of various spin depolarizing mechanisms and provide efficient polarization direction control at experimental areas. The generation of polarized beams and the evolution of the beam polarization as the beam propagates through the machine are closely coupled with polarimetry. Accurate polarimetry provides valuable feedback for setup and tuning of the accelerator, while knowledge of the machine properties that impact beam polarization is important for accurate and precise polarization measurements.
The aim of this workshop is to bring together experts in electron and hadron beam polarimetry as well as experts in polarized beams in accelerators. The program will include several invited talks, but contributed submissions are also welcome. Abstracts may be submitted through the conference web site (https://indico.bnl.gov/event/7583/abstracts/) and will be accepted until May 31st.
