We are pleased to inform you that the MIAPP program "PARTICLE & AMO PHYSICISTS DISCUSSING QUANTUM SENSORS AND NEW PHYSICS" will be held at the Munich Institute for Astro- and Particle Physics (MIAPP, http://www.munich-iapp.de<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=http-3A__www.munich-2Diapp.de&d=DwMFAg&c=CJqEzB1piLOyyvZjb8YUQw&r=YFJs0FKB296UUSeoxALDqDSsop1Seda6d57uK1TBzKE&m=jYOsyrKm7guq0o3DD0a8_FqcPjBOpoGvwqSzPf7btZQ&s=EKh15Xwhb8ogcYEbrAYjWnIbPVF_-b8wpkET3cMZJaw&e=>) in Garching, Germany, from 1st to 26th March 2021.
The program will focus on all the aspects of quantum science at the precision frontier and its interface with new ideas on new physics and how to search for it.
The structure of the program will be informal. We anticipate a format with one or two seminar talks in the morning and ample room for discussions and collaborations in the afternoon.
In the first week of the program we plan to hold a conference: "From controlling quantum systems to new physics discoveries". For those interested in participating in the conference only, the registration will be announced later on.
With this e-mail, we are pleased to invite you to register for the program. The online information on the program and the details for registration are available at: http://www.munich-iapp.de/Quantum_sensors<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=http-3A__www.munich-2Diapp.de_Quantum-5Fsensors&d=DwMFAg&c=CJqEzB1piLOyyvZjb8YUQw&r=YFJs0FKB296UUSeoxALDqDSsop1Seda6d57uK1TBzKE&m=jYOsyrKm7guq0o3DD0a8_FqcPjBOpoGvwqSzPf7btZQ&s=vU6av1o_FfeDZhlLTHD3023DfB1wEXTdV2Sr6OjN3qo&e=>
There you will also find information on the available support for accommodation and local expenses (EUR 80 per day) and for families with children (extra support of EUR 40 per day). Please note that space for the program is limited (only 45 persons per week). The final decisions on accepted participants will be made after the registration deadline.
Please note that the deadline for applying for participation is July 15th, 2020, which is approaching fast. At this point, we cannot assure funding for late registrations. We know that it is currently a very uncertain situation and that there is a possibility that we are still facing difficulties in March 2021. For organizational reasons it is important to start with the registration and selection process now. Therefore, we encourage you to register even in these uncertain times. We and the MIAPP team constantly monitor the situation and will make adjustments in our planning if needed.
To facilitate your planning, we would like to make you aware of the following matters:
Minimum stay: As a strict policy, MIAPP only accepts applications for a participation for at least two weeks of the program.
Participants from Munich: Please register in the same way, and observe the same deadline and minimum stay policy as described above. MIAPP will assign office space on site to you such that you will be able to fully participate in and benefit from the program. There will, however, be no financial assistance.
Stipends for PhD students: It is one of the goals of the MIAPP program to strongly involve junior researchers, including excellent and advanced PhD students. For this purpose, there is the opportunity to apply for a stipend that covers travel costs up to EUR 500. Please consult the MIAPP website for further instructions.
We would be very pleased if you can take part in this exciting program.
Please do not hesitate to contact us or the MIAPP staff in case you require further information.
Sincerely,
Dmitry Budker, Peter Fierlinger, Anson Hook, Gilad Perez, Marianna Safronova and Vladan Vuletic
