Dear Colleague,
Following the successful pre-town hall meeting workshop “Theory for EIC
in the next decade” at MIT, September 20-22, 2022
(https://indico.bnl.gov/event/16740/ ), where the idea of the national
EIC Theory Alliance was proposed, and the subsequent Hot and Cold QCD
Town Hall meeting at MIT, September 23-25, 2022
(https://indico.mit.edu/event/538/ ), where this idea gained wide
community support, a subset of the workshop participants decided to
commence a process of writing a community white paper in support of the
EIC Theory Alliance. As part of this effort, we wish to invite the
broad theory community interested in the EIC to participate in the
writing of the white paper and to gather input on the Theory Alliance.
This white paper will serve as input for NSAC when preparing the next
Nuclear Physics Long Range Plan as well as for the funding agencies in
follow up discussions.
In order to gather community input we created a google form where
interested researchers can sign up and provide input:
https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSd5VBzZO8f22C3PdI-Qzpt5-XXC0PfZ1F5GIU7yhay9AhPCmg/viewform
This form contains a possible outline of the whitepaper with fourteen
sections. You can sign up for one or more sections and suggest
additional sections/topics we might have overlooked. You can also
indicate your interest in reading and signing the final whitepaper, even
if you do not intend to contribute to the writing.
We also envision organizing a virtual workshop early next year, where
ideas pertinent to the EIC Theory Alliance will be discussed.
Sincerely,
