[Cuga] Snowmass Particle Physics Education Survey- a message from Scott Kravitz

Dear colleagues,


The Snowmass Particle Physics Education Survey group has prepared a survey aimed at gauging missing elements of graduate and undergraduate education in particle physics and how to bridge those gaps, both within and outside the classroom. This includes development of technical and professional skills, awareness of training opportunities, career trajectories, and more.

To ensure your response is included in our study, please fill out the survey by 1 March 2022. This survey is expected to take no more than 15 min. Your progress will be saved so you can return to it at any time (clearing your cache may affect this). Responses are anonymous and de-identified.


Who should take the survey? All members of the particle physics community, broadly defined, are encouraged to take the survey, including undergraduates with an interest in particle physics, graduate students, postdocs, faculty, staff, and anyone else who self-identifies as involved in particle physics. We furthermore encourage you to share broadly with your collaborations, departments, and students to get the broadest representation possible.


Unfortunately due to EU GDP regulations, only participants located in the United States may participate in this research study.


How will we use your responses? We will analyze the aggregated data and summarize our findings in a Snowmass contributed paper for the Community Engagement frontier. We hope that your experiences will help us identify specific areas of need and effective methods to address them so we can make recommendations to physics departments, experimental collaborations, and funding groups on ways to improve particle physics training.


In addition to the survey, we built a public forum so that you can share additional information and suggestions about educational resources that cannot be included in your survey response.
