ILCAC announcement: 2022 McCartor Awards

The International Light Cone Advisory Committee (ILCAC) invites nominations of young researchers for the Gary McCartor Fellowship Awards. The Gary McCartor Fund, honoring Gary’s scientific and professional leadership, was established in 2008 owing to a generous donation by Gary’s wife, Sheila McCartor, and donations by Gary’s personal friends and colleagues. The fund continues to support young scientists due to regular support from these friends and colleagues, as well as from the many institutions sponsoring Light Cone meetings.



Gary was particularly keen to see that young researchers had opportunities to participate in forefront research in our field. Due to the cancellation of Light Cone 2022 in Gatchina, Russia, LC2022 will be replaced by a virtual meeting where the McCartor Award winners will be formally recognized and have the opportunity to present their research in a special session. Although there will be no travel expenses to participate and present their research at the LC2022 conference, ILCAC will provide a cash award of $500 for each McCartor awardee this year.



An announcement of the recipients of the Awards will be made by ILCAC. Please send your email nomination (limited to 1200 words) with a brief CV (up to two pages) of the nominee to the email address <crji at ncsu.edu<mailto:crji at ncsu.edu>> before July 31, 2022.
