Dear Colleagues,

This message is to encourage you to attend our upcoming, jointly-sponsored DOE/NIH workshop "Advancing Medical Care through Discovery in the Physical Sciences: Radiation Detection", to be held at Jefferson Lab on March 16,17, 2023. This workshop is the second of what is expected to become an annual series. The series is to be a forum for discussion of capabilities, challenges and emerging technologies of interest to both the medical and physical scientific communities. The first workshop aimed broadly at enhancing an on-going dialogue of shared information for synergistic advancements. While maintaining the latter dialogue and search for synergy, this second workshop will focus specifically on Radiation Detection, with the following topics:

  * Cameras, Detectors for External Imaging – X-rays, protons, and beyond
  * Cameras, Detectors for Internal Diagnostic Imaging – SPECT, PET, and beyond
  *   Cameras, Detectors for Therapeutics
  *   Electronics and Data Acquisition
  * Image Reconstruction, Pre and Post Processing
  *   Applications of Artificial Intelligence

Poster submissions with novel detector instrumentation or readout are currently being sought and no prior medical applications experience is required! On-site attendance is strongly encouraged, as it will be the coffee break discussions that break down silos to form new collaborations.

Looking forward to seeing you here,

Thia
