MICROSOFT 365 AUTOMATIC EMAIL FORWARDING TO BE DISABLED - SEPT. 1
As the lab continues to implement sound cybersecurity practices, the mechanism allowing automatic forwarding of all emails from lab Microsoft 365 accounts to external domains will be disabled effective Sunday, Sept. 1. The forwarding of individual emails will not be affected.

This configuration change is in accordance with the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Agency’s (CISA) Secure Cloud Business Application baseline policies<https://www.cisa.gov/sites/default/files/2023-12/Google%20Drive%20and%20Docs_SCB_12.2023.pdf>, Section 2.1, and CISA’s Binding Operational Directive 18-01<https://www.cisa.gov/news-events/directives/bod-18-01-enhance-email-and-web-security>, “Enhance Email and Web Security.” The intent of this control is to prevent malicious actors from easily exfiltrating information and reduce the risk of inadvertent release of business- or personnel-sensitive data. If you are currently forwarding your Microsoft 365 email to an external domain automatically, consider disabling this prior to Sept. 1. After that date, IT will be reaching out to individuals to assist in disabling this process. For questions, contact the Help Desk<mailto:helpdesk at jlab.org>, x7155.
