Jefferson Science Associates (JSA) and Jefferson Lab (JLab) invite applications for the JSA/JLab Physics Division Nathan Isgur Fellowship. This fellowship was established in honor of the late Nathan Isgur who served as the Lab’s Chief Scientist from 1990 to 2001. The Fellowship award will be for up-to a five-year period.

The Nathan Isgur Fellowship aims to attract top postdoctoral talent to Jefferson Lab to enhance the Lab's capabilities in experimental nuclear physics. The candidate will have the opportunity to work with any of our four experimental Halls and also with our Electron Ion Collider group. With the freedom to work with whichever team(s) the candidate desires come the expectation that the fellow will lead and carry out a strong research program.

In this role you will:

  *   Develop, propose, and help carry-out world class medium energy nuclear physics experiments in support of the mission of Jefferson Lab.
  *   Collaborate with the staff and users are Jefferson Lab on on-going experimental efforts.
  *   Work on the publication and presentation of Jefferson Lab results in top tier journals and at major scientific conferences.
  *   Present Jefferson Lab results at conferences and collaboration meetings.

JSA provides an additional 10k/yr that can be used for laboratory equipment to help foster the candidate’s research. The candidate will also be encouraged and supported to give invited talks.

 Education:

  *    Ph.D. in Experimental Nuclear or Particle Physics

 Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  *   Knowledge of Medium Energy Nuclear Physics
  *   Knowledge of Particle Detector Systems
  *   Ability to work collaboratively with others
  *   Ability to proposal mission critical experiments and clearly communicate scientific results
  *   Ability to initiate and lead scientific research
  *    Ability to analyze and interpret complex data and develop models
