Dear Jefferson Lab Users,

Due to deficiencies noted by a proactive peer review of the laboratory, Jefferson Lab has been in a pause while identified safety issues are being addressed and some re-qualification of personnel is performed. This pause has affected the schedule and, in the spirit of keeping our user community informed, we are writing now to let you know as best we can when to reasonably expect experiments to resume and when to expect a new firm schedule to be posted.

Assuming the current safety re-qualifications go as planned, we are now looking to bring the accelerator back online after the winter break. This would imply physics starting in late January or early February.

Unrelated to the pause, we have received preliminary guidance to plan for twenty-five weeks of running in fiscal year 2025 and work has started with the Hall leaders with input from accelerator and others to make a new schedule that fits within that window. This iterative process is in progress and will be sent to the lab director for final approval in the coming weeks assuming all is proceeding as expected.

We are looking to increase the gradient of the machine from the current 1047 MeV/linac to1060 MeV/linac for the next run which, with the injection energy, will mean 11.8 GeV beam to the Hall D tagger.

Most sincerely,

Thia and Douglas
