Dear all,

Starting from the summer 2022 a series of workshops has been held to develop the scientific case for a 22 GeV upgrade to CEBAF made possible by recent novel advances in accelerator technology. CEBAF’s envisioned capabilities, at the highest luminosities, will enable exciting opportunities that give scientists the full suite of tools necessary to comprehensively understand how QCD forges hadronic matter in the valence regime. Following the workshops, a white paper, with an initial scientific case, has been written (e-Print: 2306.09360<https://arxiv.org/abs/2306.09360> [nucl-ex]) and it has been accepted for publication by EPJA.

As we wrap up final publication of it, we want to start on the next steps of the process of developing the 22 GeV physics program. Our white paper contains a snapshot of many possible opportunities, and it is important to keep developing, refining, and sharpening the physics arguments. As part of the upgrade effort, we plan to organize a biweekly 22 GeV physics discussion. Through these meetings, Jefferson Lab and its user community will continue to build the science case with descriptions and concrete projections for experiments that would become possible with an upgrade.

We envision allocating one hour every other week that could be used for 2-3 short presentations and discussion on key topics we can address with the 22 GeV upgrade. These may be featured in the white paper or even new things that have come up. We may organize presentations around a theme or a set of measurements or ask if someone can explain a key plot in the white paper. For this to be most productive, we need a healthy discussion of some common questions:

* Why do we care? (What fundamental property of nature are we exploring? What hypothesis are we testing?)

* What is being measured and how precisely can it be measured?

* Why are 22 GeV electrons necessary to make the measurement?

The meetings will be in hybrid format to allow a large participation. We have reserved room at CEBAF Center F224/5 for 12:30 - 1:30 PM every other Monday starting on Monday June 17. For the remote connection please use Zoom meeting number 161 111 8017 (password: 22)<https://jlab-org.zoomgov.com/j/1611118017?pwd=YkZsT2d1VDV5TjU2OENxR0dvY25xZz09>.

Looking forward to seeing many of you!
