Dear Students and Postdocs,
We would like to inform you of the upcoming summer school
Light-ion physics in the EIC era: From nuclear structure to high-energy processes
Florida International University, Miami, June 18-27, 2025
Organizers: Wim Cosyn, Dien Nguyen, Christian Weiss
https://indico.jlab.org/event/935/
The school will train junior nuclear physicists in the theoretical and experimental methods for high-energy
scattering on light nuclei, especially next-generation experiments with the future EIC.
The focus will be on "multiscale methods" for describing the interplay of low-energy nuclear structure with
high-energy scattering processes (see webpage). The goal is to enable the students to join current
research efforts and participate in the development of the EIC light-ion physics program.
The school is aimed at graduate students and junior postdocs in theoretical or experimental nuclear physics.
Students with backgrounds and interests in hadronic physics and QCD, low-energy nuclear structure,
heavy-ion physics, or experimental methods are equally encouraged to apply.
The school will be held in person at Florida International University, June 18-27, 2025. Topics will be
covered in lectures of 3-6 h per topic, including exercises, Q&A sessions, and hands-on tutorials with
simulation software. There will be extensive opportunities for informal interactions with lecturers and
between students for mentoring and networking.
The organizers expect to be able to provide financial support for participants' local expenses (lodging + meals).
Accommodation will be available at the FIU student dormitories (single rooms, shared facilities).
On-line participation will be arranged for those unable to travel.
In-person participation is strongly preferred when possible.
The school is open for applications (see webpage for procedure — it is very simple).
We encourage you to apply as soon as possible.
Applications will be processed continuously, and applicants will be informed as soon as possible,
Please make other interested colleagues aware of this opportunity.
