SUBJECT: Stepan Stepanyan Named Jefferson Lab Hall B Leader
CONTACT: Cynthia (Thia) Keppel, keppel at jlab.org<mailto:keppel at jlab.org>

Dear Colleagues,

The Jefferson Lab Physics Division welcomes Stepan Stepanyan as the new group leader of Experimental Hall B. He began his tenure in this role on Monday, Sept. 1. Stepan has deep experience with nuclear physics, equipment and analysis, and the Hall B CLAS12 spectrometer.

Stepan joined Jefferson Lab in 2003 as a Hall B staff scientist and has since served as the Deputy Hall B Leader for more than five years. He is a Fellow of the American Physics Society, has coordinated research activities with collaborators worldwide, authored more than 200 papers published in refereed journals, served as spokesperson for several Jefferson Lab experiments, participated in the organization of international workshops and conferences, and presented Jefferson Lab physics in many invited talks.

As Hall B Lead, Stepan will coordinate staff, instruments and experiments, as well as plan future experiments from among the recommendations of the international Program Advisory Committee and the priorities and resources of the hall.

Please join me in congratulating Stepan as he steps into this critical role!

Sincerely,

Cynthia (Thia) Keppel
Associate Director for Physics
