GORDON CONFERENCE ON PHOTONUCLEAR REACTIONS

The next Photonuclear Reactions Gordon Conference will take place from
<br>
August 1 - 6 (Sunday evening - Friday morning), in Tilton, New
Hampshire.
<br>
<br>
The Photonuclear Gordon Research Conference is a forum for active
<br>
researchers to present their latest results from theoretical and
experimental
<br>
studies of photon and electron scattering from nucleons and nuclei. The
topics
<br>
at the 2010 meeting will cover new ideas on the internal spatial and
spin
<br>
quark/gluon structure of the nucleon, on the spectrum of excitations of
the
<br>
pion and nucleon, the structure of few-body and exotic nuclei,
implications
<br>
of the measured photonuclear processes for high-density nuclear matter,
and
<br>
electromagnetic direct searches of physics beyond the Standard Model.
Ample
<br>
opportunity will be set aside to discuss ideas with others in the
field, and
<br>
identify future opportunities for our research community. The
Photonuclear
<br>
GRC, on the campus of Tilton School, has historically provided ample
and
<br>
unique opportunities for young physicists and leading researchers to
interact
<br>
both formally and informally.
<br>
<br>
As with all Gordon Conferences, presentations are in the morning
and
<br>
evening, with afternoons left free for discussions and social
interactions.
<br>
Tuesday afternoon will have a wine and cheese poster session, and
poster
<br>
presentations are encouraged. Within our funding constraints, we hope
to
<br>
cover the local conference support for graduate students and, in
selected
<br>
cases, young postdoctoral researchers, that submit a poster
presentation.
<br>

Lastly, let us add that this conference has been in existence for

over 40 years, and has a proud tradition in this field. The Gordon
Research
<br>
Conference series are well recognized in many areas of science within
the
<br>
USA, and around the world, and the fact that our field continues to
have a
<br>
thriving and vigorous Gordon Conference sends a positive message to our
<br>
colleagues in other disciplines regarding the health of our research
field.
<br>
We had a good and lively turnout in 2008, and are expecting to again
have
<br>
well over 100 participants in 2010, to be guaranteed a continuation of
this
<br>
successful series of Gordon Research Conferences.
<br>

We note that the highly interactive and social character of this
<br>
meeting is especially good for graduate students and young postdocs, to
get
<br>
an overview of this exciting field of research and discuss with topical
<br>
