<div>The 2011 JLab User's Group Annual Meeting will take place on
June 6-8, 2011 at Jefferson Lab. The program includes a variety of
physics talks, presentations from the User Group Board, laboratory
management, funding agencies, talks from our new APS fellows and
Prize winners among them the inaugural JSA Outstanding Nuclear
Physicist Award winner. </div>
<p>Your participation is important, and we strongly urge everyone to
register now (at <a
href="http://conferences.jlab.org/ugm/index.html">http://conferences.jlab.org/ugm/index.html</a>
), and make plans to attend. We particularly encourage graduate
students to attend the annual meeting. The Jefferson Science
Associates Initiatives Fund has again sponsored our waiving
student registration fees. We will again have special lunch
discussions for the graduate students where free food is
available. The poster competition continues, with a first prize of
$1000, a 2nd prize of $500, and a third prize of $250. The
deadline for poster competition abstracts is Friday, May 25, 2011
- and you cannot win if you do not enter. For more information,
contact Sucheta Jawalkar (<a href="mailto:jawalkar@jlab.org">jawalkar@jlab.org</a>).</p>
<p>On the afternoon of Wednesday, 8th June, there will be a
Symposium in honor of Larry Cardman's contribution to nuclear
physics. Details can be found at <a
href="http://conferences.jlab.org/ugm/symposium.html"><strong>http://conferences.jlab.org/ugm/symposium.html</strong></a></p>
<p>Please come and find out more about the plans of DOE, NSF, and
the laboratory in the coming years and to honor Larry's
contribution to the field. The discussion will include both near-
and long-term plans, and a variety of issues. The Annual User
Group Meeting plays a central role in maintaining the coherence
and effectiveness of our community. Your User Group Board is
working hard to put together a good meeting, and we very much hope
to see you there!</p>
