Scientists (including students and postdocs) who pursue experimental, theoretical or applied research using (or related to) the Continuous Electron Beam Accelerator Facility (CEBAF) are members, as well as everyone who is registered with the User Liaison office. The group's membership is open to all scientists and engineers interested in JLab. All users are strongly encouraged to keep themselves informed of group activities and news by reading email sent out to the CUGA list and by periodically checking the Wiki. The recent earthquake may have you wondering what other surprises Virginia's geology may hold. Could there be a volcanic eruption in Virginia? According to Dr. Elizabeth Johnson, James Madison University, a number of mysterious eruptions occurred in western Virginia 35-48 million years ago. This talk investigates the possible origins of these eruptions, and what they can tell us about the crust and mantle underneath Virginia.
