One of the last things to do before commissioning will be several days of general housekeeping in the tunnel. Extra (volunteer) help will be needed. Tunnel housekeeping is being planned for Nov. 18-22, 8:30-11:45 a.m. each day.</font></div><div><font face="Arial"><br></font></div><div><font face="Arial">Anyone that can spare this block of time for one morning or more is asked to contact Harry Fanning, <a href="mailto:fanning@jlab.org">fanning@jlab.org</a> or x7619. If you aren't Radiation Worker and Oxygen Deficiency Hazard trained, you can still sign up and be escorted. Everyone participating in this effort must wear flat- or low-heeled, closed-toe shoes, long pants and a short- or long-sleeved shirt (wear comfortable clothing as it can get warm in the tunnel). Volunteers with Radiation Worker and ODH training must wear their personal dosimeters. For staff members that don't normally get into the tunnel, this is a great way to meet Jefferson Lab colleagues from outside your work area and to learn more about CEBAF. Pizza lunches will be available for volunteers at the end of the cleanup activities each day.</font></div><div><font face="Arial"><br></font></div><div><b><font face="Arial">Systems Maintenance Period Scheduled for Nov. 19, 5-7 p.m.</font></b></div><div><div><font face="Arial">There will be a CNI Systems Maintenance Period on Tuesday, Nov. 19, 5-7 p.m. During this time, the central general purpose Linux servers, jlabl1 and jlabl2, will be upgraded to Red Hat Enterprise Linux version 6, 32 bit. To ensure that your work is not affected, make sure you have logged out of those systems before 5 p.m. The new systems should be in place by 6 p.m. In addition, there will be intermittent network outages affecting offsite connections during the maintenance period. All offsite connections will be stable by 7 p.m. Updates to Firefox, Thunderbird and Java will be released to all managed Windows systems. Finally, Windows and Linux patches will be released to all managed desktop systems. These patches may require a reboot, so plan on rebooting your desktop system by Thursday, Nov. 21. The buffet is $10.13 (plus tax) and includes a medium fountain drink.
