<div class="moz-forward-container"> Dear Users Group,<br>
<br>
Below is a brief Users Group Update. I hope that everyone will
take a minute or two to look it over and to pass on the
information to others who might be interested.<br>
<br>
1) BUDGET NEWS - House appropriations bill (from the <a
moz-do-not-send="true"
href="http://www.aip.org/fyi/2014/house-fy-2015-doe-office-science-appropriations-bill">June
20 FYI</a>):<br>
The House version of the Energy and Water bill recommends a $6.4M
increase for nuclear physics relative to the President's Budget,
or a total of $30.9M over the FY14 allocation. If one looks at
the details, this $6.4M increase matches the increase to NP
operations, which includes language recommending $100M for JLab
operations to support up to 27 weeks of running. There are
several steps left before this becomes an appropriation, but it is
clear that the message of the Nuclear Physics and JLab community
is being heard.<br>
<br>
<br>
2) DNP EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE<br>
The deadline for nominations for the DNP executive committee is
July 1st. If you have ideas for candidates who you feel would do
a good job in this role, please send in your nomination forms. If
you are looking for ideas, the UGBoD suggests nominating ROLF ENT
as an at-large member of the executive committee.<br>
<br>
3) JLAB "ALUMNI GROUP"<br>
The Board would like to organize a group of JLab alumni for
networking and mentoring of current students and postdocs. If you
have former students or postdocs that you think would be
interested in participating, please send me their contact
information or ask them to contact me. We're looking for alumni
currently in academa, industry, government and elsewhere - anyone
who would be interested in being a resource for current members of
the JLab community.<br>
