The property manager has randomly selected 20 percent of Jefferson Lab's property custodians for this year's property inventory. Those custodians will be contacted by a member of the property staff. In addition, any custodians that did not complete their annual property validation will also be included in the inventory group for this year. To complete the inventory, each item must be physically seen by a member of the property office. Note that the property custodian is responsibility to know and search if needed for their assigned property, not the property staff. Property staff will go to the location identified for each item during the property validation to inventory the property. The assigned custodian will be notified of any item not located at its specified location, and the item will will be reported as "missing" until the item is physically located by the custodian and verified by property staff. If you have questions, contact Christian Whalen at ctwhalen@jlab.org or x5899.<br><br><b>CNI Maintenance Period Set for Tuesday, July 15, 5-10 p.m.</b><br>CNI is planning a maintenance period on Tuesday, July 15, 5-10 p.m. During this time, a central file server will be rebooted to install an operating system upgrade. For Windows users, this will affect the K, L and M drives. For Unix/Mac users, this will affect the /apps, /site, /group and /mss areas. There will also be a short interruption to the Internet from onsite. Patches will be released to all Linux and Windows desktops. Plan on rebooting your desktop system on either Wednesday or Thursday to finalize the patch installation. If you have any questions or concerns about these maintenance activities, please contact the IT Division Helpdesk, x7155.<br><br><b>Last Chance to Renew Your SmartCard</b><br>If you have a Jefferson Lab SmartCard, you must renew your SmartCard by visiting the IT Division Helpdesk before July 11. For security reasons, Jefferson Lab SmartCards expire every three years, which means they must be renewed to continue functioning. In addition, the CNI group is making other changes to the SmartCard system that will require all cards to be renewed (even if issued recently). To avoid problems and delays, be sure to have your card renewed before July 11. Once the expiration date passes, the card will no longer work, and the user will not be able to log in to Jefferson Lab systems using the card. If you have any questions or concerns, contact the IT Division Helpdesk, x7155.<br><br><b>Mechanical Engineering Training Sessions</b><br>A date has been set for the kickoff of the "Lunch-and-Learn" training sessions for Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) per the ASME Y14.5-2009 Standard.
