Dear All JLab Users:

As the conference "season" approaches, I'd like to remind
everyone of the JLab ExCare Fund.

The ExCARE program provides financial assistance for extra
childcare expenses incurred when scientist-parents travel to
conferences, workshops, and collaboration meetings for their
JLab-related research. The program has been well accepted in
the past two years. This year, we would like to see more
people to apply, and have extended the eligibility to all
users of JLab. This means graduate students with families
are now eligible to apply. Post-tenure faculty members can
also apply, although will receive lower priority than
pre-tenure faculty, postdoc, and graduate students. In
addition, each family can apply the ExCare fund for multiple
trips.

Eligible cost that can be covered by ExCARE includes: extra
hours of babysitter, travel expenses of a family member to
care for the child, etc. Please check out our updated wiki
page for eligible costs and how to apply: <a

If you have any questions about the ExCARE program, please
feel free to email Xiaochao Zheng (<a

We would also like to hear new ideas about possible
expansion of the ExCARE program (although any significant
addition will require us to submit the program as a new
proposal rather than renewal of the existing ExCARE). If you
have ideas to add, please contact Xiaochao Zheng as well
(see email above).
