<p style="margin-top:0;margin-bottom:0;">This talk will give a brief introduction to the science/engineering of cryogenics.
<br>
</p>
<p style="margin-top:0;margin-bottom:0;">The applications of cryogenics and cryogenic fluids are many, this talk will focus</p>
<p style="margin-top:0;margin-bottom:0;">mostly on cryogenic systems and applications at Jefferson Lab. Some of the critical
<br>
</p>
<p style="margin-top:0;margin-bottom:0;">design/engineering considerations will be reviewed. Several components of JLab's
<br>
</p>
<p style="margin-top:0;margin-bottom:0;">cryogenic systems will be highlighted including cryogenic targets, cryogenic
<br>
</p>
<p style="margin-top:0;margin-bottom:0;">distribution, and a high level overview of the many portions of the laboratories
<br>
</p>
<p style="margin-top:0;margin-bottom:0;">many cryogenic systems. Gas and liquid storage systems will be discussed as well as
<br>
</p>
<p style="margin-top:0;margin-bottom:0;">the refrigerators/liquefies that convert the gas to liquid. Key operational processes
<br>
</p>
<p style="margin-top:0;margin-bottom:0;">including helium purification will be discussed as well as process control that allows
<br>
</p>
<p style="margin-top:0;margin-bottom:0;">the systems to run 24/7 without continuous staffing. At the end the attendee should
<br>
</p>
<p style="margin-top:0;margin-bottom:0;">have a better feel for the scope of the JLab cryogenics system and cost and effort to
<br>
</p>
<p style="margin-top:0;margin-bottom:0;">operate the systems here at JLab.</p>
