<div class="">Dear Colleagues,</div>
<div class=""><br class="">
</div>
<div class=""><br class="">
</div>
<div class="">We would like to inform you of the upcoming workshop:</div>
<div class=""><br class="">
</div>
<div class=""><br class="">
</div>
<div class=""><b class="">Target fragmentation and diffraction physics with novel processes: </b><b class="">Ultraperipheral, electron-ion, and hadron collisions</b></div>
<div class="">On-line meeting, Center for Frontiers of Nuclear Science, Stony Brook University, February 9-11, 2022</div>
<div class="">Organizers: Abhay Deshpande, Michael Murray, Marta Ruspa, Mark Strikman, Christian Weiss</div>
<div class=""><a href="https://indico.bnl.gov/event/14009/" class="">https://indico.bnl.gov/event/14009/</a></div>
<div class=""><br class="">
</div>
<div class=""><br class="">
</div>
<div class="">The workshop will review/assess the physics opportunities in measurements of target fragmentation in deep-inelastic processes </div>
<div class="">in collider experiments (HERA, EIC, RHIC, LHC) and fixed-target experiments (JLab12, COMPASS, others); see description on webpage. </div>
<div class="">The goal is to formulate a coherent program combining the results of different experiments (energy range, type of probe) </div>
<div class="">and define the context and objectives for target fragmentation measurements at EIC.</div>
<div class=""><br class="">
</div>
<div class=""><br class="">
</div>
<div class="">The workshop will focus in particular on these new directions:</div>
<div class=""><b class=""><br class="">
</b></div>
<div class=""><b class="">I) Target fragmentation and diffraction with ultraperipheral pA/AA collisions: </b></div>
<div class="">Kinematics, final states accessible with LHC and RHIC detectors, diffractive processes, complementarity with EIC</div>
<div class=""><br class="">
</div>
<div class=""><b class="">II) Nucleon fragmentation with variable energies and probes:</b></div>
<div class="">Proton fragmentation in pp at LHC, leading hadrons, complementarity with HERA and EIC</div>
<div class="">Nucleon fragmentation at fixed-target energies, complementarity with EIC, joint physics analysis</div>
<div class=""><br class="">
</div>
<div class=""><b class="">III) Nuclear breakup in high-energy processes:</b></div>
<div class="">Theory/Models of nuclear breakup in high-energy processes, coherent/diffractive scattering, applications with light and heavy nuclei</div>
<div class="">Using ultrapheripheral and hadronic pA/AA data to test/refine nuclear breakup models for eA at EIC</div>
<div class=""><br class="">
</div>
<div class=""><br class="">
</div>
<div class="">We encourage you to attend this workshop and participate in the discussions.</div>
