<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman", serif; font-size: 12pt; color: rgb(36, 36, 36);">Accelerator physics is the study and application of the principles<br>
governing charged particle beam acceleration, control, and dynamics.<br>
It is fundamentally multidisciplinary, at the intersection of<br>
relativity, electrodynamics, material science, accelerator technology,<br>
and AI/ML applications.<br>
<br>
CASA is the main home of Ph.D. accelerator physicists at Jefferson Lab<br>
Our core purpose is to develop pioneering knowledge about advanced<br>
accelerator and beam physics, with an emphasis on CEBAF and its<br>
upgrades, and accelerator collaborations including the Electron-Ion<br>
Collider (EIC). CASA core competencies includes recirculating linac<br>
and energy-recovery linac (ERL) design, operations, and upgrades;<br>
computational accelerator physics (including AI and machine learning),<br>
and advanced diagnostics R&D. This presentation is an introduction to<br>
CASA and its present activities.</span></p>
