DATE POSTED: DECEMBER 15, 2009

SALARY RANGE: $47,600 - $71,600 (PD)

DUTIES:
The successful candidate will participate in the preparation and data
taking for Hall A experiments and assist in the design of future Hall A
experiments. The experimental program in Hall A consists of a mix of
base equipment experiments, using two magnetic spectrometers and
dedicated large-scale installation experiments. In particular, for the
next two years the program includes a series of experiments using parity
violation to measure the strange proton charge from factor, to perform a
test of the Standard Model through deep-inelastic scattering and to
measure the neutron radius in 208Pb. Additionally, two experiments will
be carried out to study Deeply Virtual Compton Scattering off the proton
and off the neutron.
Minimum Qualifications A Ph.D. in experimental nuclear, particle, or
high-energy astrophysics is required. Experience in analyzing data from
intermediate/high energy experiments is essential. A solid background in
lepton-nucleus physics would be beneficial.
