The Department of Physics and Astronomy at Mississippi State University
(MSU, http://www.msstate.edu/dept/physics) expects to fill, subject to
the availability of funding, a full-time nine-month position at the
Assistant/Associate Professor level starting on August 16, 2010. This
tenure-track position is open to applicants who have a Ph.D. in
astronomy or physics or a closely related field and perform research in
one or more of the areas of specialization in the Department:
Astrophysics, Atomic/Molecular and Optical Physics, Computational
Physics and Nuclear Physics. MSU is the state land-grant university with
an enrollment of over 18,000 students. The Department offers BS, MS, and
Ph.D. degrees. Applicants are expected to continue the departmental
tradition of excellence in sponsored research involving students, in
teaching, and in service. Local resources that may be relevant to this
position include the High Performance Computing Collaboratory and the
Institute for Clean Energy Technology. Phi Beta Kappa members are
