The Nuclear and Particle Physics group at the New Mexico
State University invites applications for a Postdoctoral
Research Associate position in Experimental High Energy
Nuclear Physics. The position will be based at the
Brookhaven National Laboratory as part of the PHENIX
Collaboration at RHIC. We are particularly interested
in physics studies involving the PHENIX Forward Vertex
Detector (FVTX), which will be installed in PHENIX by
summer 2011. The FVTX is part of a comprehensive package
of upgrades to PHENIX which will make possible precision
studies in heavy-ion and polarized p-p collisions during
the higher luminosities we anticipate in the second decade
of RHIC running. The successful candidate with work with
our experimental nuclear and particle physics group
consisting of: three faculty (Gary Kyle, Vassili Papavassiliou,
Stephen Pate), two research associates, and several graduate
students. A doctoral degree or equivalent in physics is
required; experience in experimental medium or high-energy
nuclear physics or particle physics is preferred. Salaries
are competitive and a comprehensive package of benefits is
offered. Please send a formal letter of interest with a CV
and a list of publications, and the names, addresses, and
e-mail addresses of at least three persons who are willing
to serve as references, to Prof. Stephen Pate, Email:
