Postdoctoral Position in Experimental Intermediate Energy Nuclear Physics
at the University of Virginia
Applications are invited for a postdoctoral Research Associate position in the
field of experimental intermediate energy nuclear physics at the University of
Virginia. Our group is playing a leading role in studies of deuteron photo-
disintegration at the High Intensity Gamma Source (HIGS) located on the campus
of Duke University as well as in studies of threshold pion production and few
body electro-disintegration at JLAB. Our group currently consists of two
faculty members, one research scientist, and 3 graduate students. The
successful candidate will be located at the Jefferson Lab and be expected to
take a leading role in the upcoming threshold deuteron electro-disintegration
experiment. He/she will also have the opportunity to participate in our HIGS
experiments and/or work on the HD-ice target and the meson photo-production
experiment scheduled to use it. He/she will be encouraged to develop his/her
own new ideas for experiments. The successful candidate will be expected to
supervise both graduate and undergraduate students. The appointment will be
initially for one year and be renewable for up to three years based upon mutual
agreement and continued availability of funding. Applicants should have a PhD
in experimental nuclear or particle physics. Review of applications will begin
immediately and will continue until the position is filled. Applicants should
submit a curriculum vitae, a statement of research experience and interests, a
list of publications, and arrange for three letters of reference to be sent to:
