The lattice QCD group at the George Washington University anticipates an
opening for a postdoctoral research position starting in Fall 2011. The
appointment is for a two year term with a possibility of renewal for a
third year. The extension is contingent on the availability of funding.
The successful applicant will hold a Ph.D. in high energy or nuclear
physics and have research interests and experience which strongly
overlaps the current activities of the group, namely, lattice
calculations of hadron phenomenology, finite density, and vacuum structure.
Interested applicants should send (as pdf attachments please) a CV, a
list of publications, a brief statement of research interests, and
arrange to have three letters of recommendation sent to Andrei Alexandru
<aalexan at gwu.edu <http://pa.uky.edu/>> (with cc to Frank X. Lee
<fxlee at gwu.edu <http://pa.uky.edu/>>). We will start reviewing
applications on Dec. 15, 2010 and continue until the position is filled.
A detailed description of the position follows: this is a full time
position for a Post Doctoral Research Scientist to be located on the
Foggy Bottom Campus of The George Washington University. This is a
40hours/week position for up to three years. The position will focus on
research in theoretical nuclear physics. The job requirements include
planning research projects and assisting in drafting proposals for
funding and computational time, developing and running simulations in
quantum chromodynamics, analyzing data and preparing papers and
presentations. The position title and salary will be commensurate with
experience and qualifications. Full university benefits including
tuition benefits for employee, spouse, and dependents are included.
The George Washington University is an equal opportunity employer.
