The Jefferson Lab (JLab, VA USA) team at the Institut de Physique
Nucléaire (IPN) at Orsay (Paris region, France) seeks to fill a
Postdoctoral position in Physics (2 years starting in early 2012).
The JLab group at IPN has been involved for many years in research on
the nucleon structure at JLab. Currently, the main activities are
related to Deeply Virtual Compton Scattering (DVCS) experiments in
both Hall A and Hall B, as well as hardware projects for the Upgrade
of JLab to 12 GeV. The group is in close collaboration with the nearby
SPhN laboratory at CEA-Saclay in particular concerning the
phenomenology of Generalized Parton Distributions (GPDs) and how to
extract them from DVCS.
The candidate will participate primarily to the analysis of recent
data taken last year in Hall A, but contributions are possible to
other analyses ongoing in Hall B, the construction of a new neutron
detector for CLAS12, or to the phenomenology of GPDs together with our
colleagues from CEA-Saclay. Trips to the USA should be expected.
This postdoctoral position requires a PhD in experimental physics with
emphasis on particle or nuclear physics. Applications should include a
CV and two letters of recommendation and should be sent to Dr. Carlos
Munoz (munoz at jlab.org) before December 10, 2011.
