TWO UPCOMING TENURE-TRACK FACULTY POSITIONS AT PHYSICS
INSTITUTE, UNIVERSITY OF SÃO PAULO
The Experimental Physics Department, within the Physics Institute
at the University of São Paulo expects to open two new tenure-track
Faculty positions in the near future. We are seeking talented
and greatly motivated young scientists who would be interested
in applying. The Department has a very diverse research program,
which includes both Experimental and Theoretical Physics. The
University of São Paulo is the most prestigious academic institution
in Brazil, with its main campus located in the largest and culturally
most vibrant city in the Country.
As a first step in the process, different groups are prospecting
for potential applicants. We are looking for researchers, who hold a
Doctoral
degree, with strong backgrounds in Intermediate and High Nuclear Physics.
We participate in the ALICE collaboration at LHC/CERN studying
properties of hadronic systems through the analysis of
transverse-momentum distributions. Also, we develop a software
to simulate nuclear reactions induced by protons, photons,
neutrons or electrons at intermediate and high energies through the
Monte Carlo Method. One of the applications of
this code is on the study of utrarelativistic ultra-periphetal
collisions in the ALICE experiment, where the production of
vector-mesons is our main focus.
Possible applications on the Physics of JLab could be developed.
Interested candidates should send a short CV and a declaration of
intention in applying for the position when it will be available to
Prof. Dr Airton Deppman (deppman at if.usp.br <mailto:deppman at if.usp.br>).
