SALARY RANGE: $48,600 - $73,200 (PD)

DUTIES:

The successful candidate will participate in the development of the
physics program for an Electron Ion Collider, and in particular the
further design of the detector and interaction regions, including work
on both analytical and detailed GEANT-based Monte Carlo simulations.
The individual will also work on the analysis of accumulated Jefferson
Lab 6-GeV physics data, and the planning of new experiments for the
12-GeV Upgrade, which is presently under construction, within the area
of semi-inclusive and/or deep exclusive scattering reactions.  Upon
mutual agreement, duties can also include preparatory work for planned
12-GeV experiments and/or detector-related research and design.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  A Ph.D. in experimental nuclear, particle, or high-energy astrophysics
is required.  Experience in analyzing data from intermediate/high energy
  experiments is essential.  A solid background in lepton-nucleus physics
  and in GEANT Monte Carlo simulations would be beneficial.
