*Postdoctoral Research Associate Position*
in Gaseous Detector Development for an Experiment at a Future 
Electron-Ion Collider

The Department of Physics & Space Sciences at Florida Institute of 
Technology in
Melbourne, Florida seeks to fill an opening for a Postdoctoral Research 
Associate in a
hardware R&D project on gaseous detectors. The R&D is targeted towards 
tracking and particle
identification in a large-scale experiment at a future electron-ion 
collider at Brookhaven National
Laboratory or at Jefferson Lab. Technologies under study are large-area 
GEM detectors, and
GEM-based micro-TPC and light-gas RICH detectors. Applications are 
welcome from
candidates with a Ph.D. degree in experimental nuclear or high-energy 
physics. A successful
candidate will have substantial experience with construction, 
commissioning, and operation of
gaseous particle detector systems and associated electronics - 
preferably with micropattern gas
detectors. The successful candidate will be based at Florida Tech, but 
is expected to support
ongoing R&D at collaborating institutions U. of Virginia, Stony Brook 
U., and Brookhaven
National Lab. The candidate will be required to spend substantial time 
in residence at the other
sites. At Florida Tech, he/she is expected to organize and guide 
students participating in the
project.
