The /Service de Physique Nucléaire/ of the /institut de Recherche sur
les lois Fondamentales de l’Univers/ at the CEA-Saclay invites
applications for a two year term post-doctoral position starting in
September 2013 to work within the experimental physics group studying
*Deeply Virtual Compton Scattering in the COMPASS Collaboration at CERN.*
The group is involved since many years in the experimental program at
COMPASS and has initiated the deeply virtual Compton scattering (DVCS)
program investigating the partonic
structure of the nucleon via the determination of Generalized Parton
Distributions (GPDs). The realization of the first DVCS test run using
the 160 GeV muon beam with its two states configurations for charge and
polarization and with a 2.5m long liquid hydrogen target surrounded by a
new Time of Flight detector and an extended calorimetry has been
achieved in November 2012. The candidate will participate in the data
analysis and their interpretation in terms of GPDs to prepare the
outcome of the future long term experiment.
The candidate should have a PhD in Experimental Physics and expertise
with large scale detectors and data analysis. Additional expertise in
the field of DVCS or GPD will be appreciated. Applicant should send a
curriculum vitae, a short statement of his/her research interest and
arrange for two signed letters of reference, at the following address:
