Physics and Nuclear Physics
The Department of Physics at Yale University invites applications for a tenure track faculty position in the areas of experimental astrophysics, particle physics and nuclear physics, broadly defined. We are especially interested in candidates whose research program includes development of new instrumentation for next-generation experiments that will address cutting-edge questions in astrophysics, weak interactions, fundamental symmetries, or physics beyond the Standard Model. The department offers a stimulating environment that encourages interactions with experimentalists and theorists and has several active inter-departmental units including the Yale Center for Astronomy and Astrophysics and the Yale Wright Laboratory. The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree at the time of hire. Yale faculty are expected to lead internationally recognized and forefront research programs, teach effectively at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and have a strong commitment to mentoring and service.
An appointment at the Assistant Professor level is expected with a start date of July 1, 2016, although in exceptional cases, an appointment at a higher rank could be considered. Applicants are encouraged to apply online athttp://apply.interfolio.com/30535 and must submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, publication list, and a brief description of proposed research. Applicants should also arrange for 3 or more letters of recommendation to be uploaded to the same URL (which can happen only after the applicant has created a dossier through Interfolio).
For further information about the position, contact Professor Witold Skiba, Chair of the Astro/Particle/Nuclear Physics Search Committee (witold.skiba at yale.edu) or Professor Paul Tipton, Chair of the Physics Department (paul.tipton at yale.edu). Applications that are complete by November 1, 2015 will be assured of full consideration. Yale is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer.
Yale values diversity among its students, staff, and faculty and strongly welcomes applications from women, persons with disabilities, protected veterans, and underrepresented minorities.
