Postdoctoral Position - Experimental Nuclear Physics
University of Massachusetts, Amherst
*Job Description:*
The Physics Department at the University of Massachusetts Amherst
invites applications for a postdoctoral research associate in
experimental nuclear physics. The candidate will carry out research in
experimental nuclear and particle physics with the Hall D GlueX detector
at Jefferson Lab in *Virginia*, and at Mainz,*Germany*with the A2
Crystal Ball detector. At Jefferson Lab Hall D, the UMass group is
leading the approved charged pion polarizability experiment, and the
design and construction of muon detectors for that measurement. At
Mainz, the UMass group has a leadership role in the spin-polarized
Compton scattering program, and measurements of proton
spin-polarizabilities. The initial appointment is for one year, with the
possibility of an extension for up to two additional years

The candidate must have a Ph.D. in experimental nuclear or particle physics.

The home location for this position will be at Jefferson Lab in
Virginia, with occasional travel to UMass Amherst and Germany.
