Postdoc Position in experimental particle astrophysics: University of
Michigan

The University of Michigan Dark Matter group invites applications for a
Postdoctoral Research Associate Position.

The successful candidate will join our ongoing dark matter direct
detection effort with the LZ collaboration. LZ is a 10 ton scale dark
matter experiment that is scheduled to start science data collection in
early 2020. It will provide unprecedented sensitivity to WIMP dark
matter particles and play a leading role in dark matter searches over
the next decade.

The successful candidate will be involved in the installation,
commissioning and operation of the radon removal system for LZ at the
Sanford Underground Research Facility (SURF), play a leading role in
detector R&D at the University of Michigan, and participate in the
development of simulation and analysis tools for the LZ experiment.
Although the successful candidate will be stationed at the University of
Michigan, frequent travel and extended stays at the SURF laboratory is
expected. Previous experience in direct dark matter searches or noble
liquid detectors will be advantageous.

Applicants must hold a Ph.D.  in experimental nuclear physics,  particle
physics  or particle astrophysics. The position is available starting
12/1/2018, or at a later, mutually agreed date. The initial appointment
is for one year, renewable by mutual agreement for up to three years.
