Position Description - The Department of Physics at Lehigh University invites applications for a faculty position in High Energy or Nuclear Physics, broadly defined (including quantum field theory, high energy theory, string theory, theoretical cosmology, experimental medium or high-energy nuclear/particle physics). The search is for a tenure-track Assistant Professor, or for highly qualified candidates at the Associate or Full Professor level. The anticipated starting date is August 2019. Candidates should have a PhD in Physics, or equivalent.
This faculty search aims to strengthen the fundamental physics component of the Physics Department, which includes research programs in nuclear and particle physics, string theory, astrophysics, atomic and molecular physics, statistical physics, computational physics, condensed matter physics, nonlinear optics and photonics, biophysics and soft matter. Physics faculty are committed to research excellence, teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and service to the academic community.

Logan College is seeking applicants for a full-time, tenure track faculty position in physics to begin fall 2019. The College is seeking a dedicated instructor who fosters and promotes a collegial atmosphere and places student learning and success as top priorities. Successful candidates will be responsible for teaching physics and other physical science courses as needed.



Faculty are covered under a 9-month contract period (August through May) and are required to teach a minimum of 15 credit hours and serve eight office hours per week for student consultation in fall and spring semesters. Additional teaching opportunities with compensation may be available in the summer semester.

The Life & Physical Science department includes biology, chemistry, health education, physical education, physical science, and physics, and consists of nine full-time faculty. Full-time instructors are provided offices with computers and Internet access, and have access to excellent support services.

Instructional responsibilities include: course development, updating and submission of course syllabi in required format, assessment of student outcomes, conducting program review, development of resources for instruction, including those for online learning, and timely submission of student grades and progress. Additionally, the successful candidate will be expected to post and maintain office hours, recruit students to the program, and participate fully in departmental duties, institutional committees, and activities as assigned. The candidate is also expected to represent the College credibly with respect to any of its activities, and observe, support, and enforce the regulations, policies, and programs of the College.

Requirements: Master’s degree in physics, or a closely related field. Successful candidates must demonstrate proficient use of instructional technology, including online course development and delivery.

Preferred Qualifications: Post-secondary teaching experience in physics.

This is a 10-month tenure-track contract position.

Required Qualifications:
Master’s degree in physics, astronomy, or astrophysics OR Bachelor’s degree in physics or astronomy AND Master’s degree in engineering, mathematics, meteorology, or geophysics OR the equivalent.

About the Bard Early Colleges

Through a tuition-free, engaging college program in the liberal arts and sciences with robust supports, the Bard Early Colleges (BEC) help high school students, particularly those at risk of not completing post-secondary education, access, afford, and complete college prepared to contribute to the workforce and civic life.  Students are taught by college faculty in seminar classes; they receive up to 60 college credits and an associate in arts (A.A.) degree from Bard College, concurrently with a high school diploma. The Bard Early Colleges begin preparing students for college work as early as the 9th grade and offer ongoing guidance and academic supports. Now in its second decade, the Bard Early College network serves over 2,850 students in five states. Since 2003, Bard College has awarded more than 3,000 A.A. degrees to its early college students.

Bard High School Early College DC (BHSEC DC), https://bhsec.bard.edu/dc/ , a partnership between Bard College and District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS), invites applications for full-time founding faculty positions in Physics, beginning August 2019.
