Visiting Assistant Professor of Physics
James Madison University invites applications for a one-year non-tenure track faculty
position beginning in August 2019 for the 2019-2020 academic year in the Department of
Physics and Astronomy at the rank of Assistant Professor. Candidates with an earned PhD in
astronomy or physics or related discipline are preferred. The department has 22 full-time
faculty members and ~120 students in our multi-track baccalaureate-only program. The
successful candidate will teach introductory physics or physical science for non-science majors.
A clear interest in and demonstrated history of teaching physical science to students from
populations not traditionally involved in physics is strongly desired. Additional duties may
include conducting general physics or introductory electronics laboratories.
Review of applications will begin on June 28, 2019 and continue until the position is
filled. To apply, go to JobLink.jmu.edu and reference posting number F1337. James Madison
