Jefferson Lab is currently seeking to hire an EIC Staff Scientist I.
The successful candidate will participate in the development of the physics program for an Electron Ion Collider and in particular the quantification of the proposed measurements in collaboration with Jefferson lab users engaged in EIC studies. The individual will use analytical and detailed GEANT-based Monte Carlo to produce plots, figures and simulated results in variety of EIC science topics. The individual is encouraged to develop a science program at Jefferson Lab. Upon mutual agreement, duties can also include work on the on-going Jefferson Lab experimental programs including possible analysis of accumulated 12-GeV physics data and/or detector related research. The position will be for a one-year term. Subject to mutual interest and availability of funding, the position may be extended.
A Ph.D. or equivalent in experimental nuclear, particle or high-energy astrophysics. In-depth experience in intermediate/high energy experiments with a variety of detector systems, their functioning, and their integration is preferred.
